Apple TV App Enables News Section as Promised

In addition to the new section on the TV app, Apple has also added Siri functionality that will allow users to access the live streams via voice commands. Check out a few screenshots below or visit the For You section in Apple News to see more.

First shown off with the Apple TV 4K last September, Apple has today added a section for live news in the TV app. Apple live news can be found in the Watch Now tab. You can even track medals using the app and using the News widget on iPhone and iPad you can track results without launching the app.

Apple has introduced a new section in Apple News that offers coverage of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Logan Paul: YouTube suspends star's adverts over 'potentially damaging' videos
This caused Paul to take a month break from vlogging, returning with a full apology video before resuming regular content. The same video saw him remove a live fish from a pond and joke about performing CPR on it.

From there, the user is automatically authenticated on the app, if necessary, via the Single Sign-On feature.

To get the feature to work, you'll need the accompanying apps for the news providers listed. However, Apple did say that certain clips from the different events will be available for direct viewing within the Apple News app. Be sure to grab those updates before frantically navigating around your TV app.

Apple itself has been making several moves to beef up its own content plays, aiming to have more exclusivity and ownership of what it provides on its own video and music services as a way of differentiating them and potentially making them more attractive for consumers to pay to use. Instead, all of the content is presented and organized in the TV app.
