USA resumes DACA applications after judge blocks end to program

On Tuesday night, U.S. District Judge William Alsup in San Francisco blocked the proposed cancellation of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which protects undocumented people who came to the United States as children, known as "Dreamers", from deportation.

Mirka Dominguez Salinas, a DACA recipient, says she worries the federal order is only temporary.

But members of Congress have struggled to agree on a permanent legal solution for DACA recipients. "An important question now presented is whether that conclusion was a mistake of law".

The USCIS will accept renewal requests from those individuals who previously received DACA status, but it expired on or after September 5, 2016.

In a Sep. 5 memo from then-acting DHS secretary Elaine Duke, the agency said it lacked authority to implement DACA because it was an executive order from the executive branch. The program protected young undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children from deportation.

"Hello my people just got the news that USCIS will be accepting DACA applications starting now".

Gunman in Las Vegas shooting continues to puzzle authorities
Later that same day, the first account received a message stating: "we have a wide variety of optics and ammunition to try". Hours later, authorities located her in the Philippines and identified her as "a person of interest" in the shooting.

Still, he said, "it's a good sign and maybe recipients can file and renew immediately before any appeal or new law".

The lawsuit was brought against the Trump administration by the Regents of the University of California system and its president, Janet Napolitano.

The Department of Justice has indicated it will appeal the judge's decision, a move that could again put the program on hold. That's even though a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to restart the program that it canceled past year.

"It just shows everyone how broken and unfair our Court System is when the opposing side in a case (such as DACA) always runs to the 9th Circuit and nearly always wins before being reversed by higher courts", Trump tweeted after the order came out.

Trump promised to end the program during the presidental campaign, and in announcing it was being phased out, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions called it an unconstitutional circumvention of Congress.
