Neymar strikes as PSG reach League Cup semis

Rio de Janeiro: Brazilian football legend Ronaldo has described national team superstar Neymar's club world record move to Paris Saint-Germain from FC Barcelona as a "backward step".

Neymar became the world's most expensive footballer after leaving the Catalan giants for PSG in a €222m move at the start of the campaign. They were once a part of the world's deadliest attacking trio, along with Luis Suarez.

While Neymar has so far proved to be prolific in Ligue Un, scoring 20 goals and registering 12 assists, many have criticised the 25-year-old's decision to play in a less competitive, less talent filled league while he still has his best years ahead of him.

But Ronaldo believes his decision to play for PSG is a bad career move.

"But there are challenges that everyone seeks".

I personally agree with what Ronaldo had to say about the player.

His fellow global compatriot grabbed all the transfer headlines in the summer when he swapped giants Barcelona for the Ligue 1 side in a world record £198million deal. The Brazilian wizard could've moved to Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Juventus considering their prestige and current form.

They are determined not to go behind the backs of PSG, and will not pursue a move without the prior knowledge of the Parisian club.
