IPhone Update Will Allow Users To Stop Battery Slowdown, Tim Cook Says

The topic gained global attention with the announcement of the iPhone X and Apple was forced to address the issue.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, whose reputation is on the line over the issue, has now revealed Apple will embark on something which "hasn't been done before" he said. Apple clarified that it wasn't done intentionally when new iPhones came around. This was done to prevent accidental shutdowns as the degraded batteries would find it hard to manage a surge in processing power. This resulted in a lower performing iPhones, but saved users from "sudden and unexpected restarts".

Cook said the phone-slowing software, released a year ago, was meant to make sure that iPhone users did not get cut off in the middle of an important call or text message because of an old battery.

"It's very transparent. This hasn't been done before. [.] If you don't want it, you can turn it off". "We don't recommend it because we think that people's iPhones are really important to them and you can never tell when something is so urgent. Maybe we should have been clearer as well".

AAP MLAs disqualified from Delhi assembly, President gives approval
After assuming office in Delhi, the AAP government in March 2015 appointed 21 MLAs as parliamentary secretaries to its ministers. The move also is a massive blow for the AAP which has a massive majority in the 70-member Delhi assembly with 65 seats.

Right now, all you're able to see is which app/function is draining the most battery and how long your battery is lasting.

In response to the Shanghai Consumer Council on an inquiry letter over the slowdown of older iPhones after an iOS update, Apple on Friday said that an upcoming version of iOS will allow iPhone owners to make the decision between their iPhone's speed and battery condition. Another CNBC reporter made an appointment at Best Buy to replace the batteries on her two iPhone 6 models, and was turned away because the store was out of stock. In fact, to check out reports of dwindling supplies, CNBC reporter Todd Haselton visited the 14th Street Apple Store in NY to get the battery on his Apple iPhone 6 replaced.

Apple also lowered the price of battery replacements for affected models from $79 to $29. A slash in battery prices followed the company's apology last month, with the admittance leading to the US Senate contacting Apple.
