"The port of Hodeida is a launching pad for terrorist operations threatening navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait", coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said late Wednesday.

A Saudi-led coalition has warned Yemen's rebels threaten ships in the Red Sea through their control of a key port, days after rebel warnings over a coalition blockade.

Last Friday, the coalition announced it had intercepted a Houthi missile that was also allegedly fired towards Najran from inside Yemeni territory.

The report came almost a month after Nikki R. Haley, the American ambassador to the United Nations, showed reporters a display of recovered war debris, including missile pieces and drone fragments, that she described as proof of Iranian complicity in arming the Houthis.
