Willie Taggart hired as Florida State's next head coach

"He said coaching this team is his dream job".

As late as mid-day Monday, four-star quarterback and Ducks commit Tyler Shough was tweeting pictures of Taggart from an in-home visit, representing OR, in Chandler, Ariz.

After just one year at Oregon, Willie Taggart will reportedly be named Jimbo Fisher's replacement at Florida State. Now Mullens has to once again find a new head football coach. According to multiple reports, FSU is Taggart's "dream job". But he has pretty deep ties to the state of Florida, as a Bradenton native with family still living in Florida and four seasons as head coach at South Florida (2013-2016) on his resume.

He posted a 7-5 record in his first year with the Ducks.

While at Oregon, Taggart landed commitments from four-star prospects Warren Thompson and Isaiah Bolden despite each being high on FSU's target list.

Florida State will play Southern Mississippi in the Independence Bowl on December 27.

Florida State will not require near that level of rebuild, despite needing to reschedule a game against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday to extend the country's longest bowl streak to 36 games. After quarterback Deondre Francois was injured in the highly-anticipated opener against Alabama, FSU, ranked No. 3 to begin the season, got off to a terrible 2-5 start. After the 2006 season, Taggart was then brought in as the running backs coach at Stanford by the newly hired head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Tuesday afternoon, it become official: Willie Taggart is the new football coach at Florida State.

This will be the first time since 1960 that UF and FSU have had to replace their football coaches in the same year.
