Tigers will trade Ian Kinsler to Angels

Tonight, they are trading Ian Kinsler to the Angels.

Can confirm that the Angels have acquired Ian Kinsler from the Tigers in exchange for OF Troy Montgomery and RHP Wilkel Hernandez.

Ken Rosenthal first reported the trade on Wednesday evening. According to Fangraphs, Kinsler was worth 2.4 Wins Above Replacement last season, down from 5.7 the year before. Kinsler had iterated that he'd be willing to stay with the Detroit Tigers during the rebuilding phase, but if he were traded he'd prefer a contender.

Kinsler has spent the last four years with the Tigers and hit.236, with a.313 OBP, 22 home runs, and 52 RBI last season.

Prepare for infinite Saturdays on the Harvey Street, surrounded by the Harvey girls, who are the block's guardians and BFFs. Brandon Sawyer, who got an Emmy award is the executive producer for this original series.

Los Angeles won the Shohei Ohtani sweepstakes, landing the Japanese two-way player.

Kinsler is under contract for $11 million for 2018, relatively cheap by current Major League Baseball standards and will be a free agent for 2019. Last season the Angels went 80-82 but the acquisition of Ohtani and Kinsler show that they're more than capable of a playoff berth in the 2018 season. He still managed a.725 OPS, 90 runs and 14 stolen bases.

It's not known yet which team (or teams) have gotten far in discussions with the Tigers, but the Angels have been suggested as a good fit given their need for a second baseman.

Kinsler has a 10-team no-trade clause and he has a ton of leverage because the three teams most focused upon - the Mets, Angels and Brewers - are all on his list, The Post has learned.
