Putin thanks Trump for help in foiling attack plot

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders confirmed that the call from Putin to Trump took place and said a readout would be provided to the press shortly.

The Kremlin said Putin told Trump during the call on Sunday that the information provided by the Central Intelligence Agency was sufficient to track down and detain a "group of terrorists" that was planning to bomb the Kazan Cathedral and other sites in the city.

"The information received by the CIA was enough to detect, hunt down and arrest the criminals", it added in a statement carried by Russian news agencies.

Putin, in his phone call with Trump, said Russian Federation would alert USA authorities if it received any information about any attack being planned on the United States, Interfax quoted the Kremlin as saying. Trump then called Pompeo "to congratulate him, his very talented people, and the entire intelligence community on a job well done!"

"Vladimir Putin assured Donald Trump that the Russian intelligence services upon receipt of information relating to terrorist threats against the U.S. and its citizens, will immediately transmit to its American colleagues in partner channels", the statement added.
