Miss America Organization loses TV partner over emails

Gretchen Carlson and two other former Miss Americas are calling on the pageant's CEO and other organizers to step down after leaked emails revealed that they made disparaging and inappropriate comments about former pageant winners.

A New Jersey agency that still owes the Miss America Organization $4 million toward the cost of next year's pageant says it is reviewing its contract with the group.

"As a proud former Miss America and former member of the Board of the Miss America Organization, I am shocked and deeply saddened by the disgusting statements about women attributed to the leadership of the MAO".

"If you're new to the Miss America organization".

The website adds that the Miss America CEO indicated in one email that Hagan was attacking him and his family although it was not clear how. In 2014, board member Tammy Haddad allegedly referred to some former Miss Americas as a "pile of malcontents and has beens who blame the program for not getting them where they think they can go".

The outgoing mayor of Atlantic City has added his voice to the chorus of elected officials and others calling on top leaders of the Miss America Organization to resign in the wake of an email scandal. She declined comment to the Huffington Post.

She also said pageant officials "told me which former Miss Americas I wasn't allowed to associate with or pose for photos with".

Dick Clark Productions, the television partner for Miss America, has dropped the affiliation, based on the published emails.

They also interviewed Jameson, who allegedly acknowledged parts of the planned attack and his support for terrorism and ISIS. Holiday Lights Add Sparkle to the Bay Area When asked about an escape plan, Jameson replied "he was ready to die".

In the Huffington Post report, a barrage of emails were uncovered over a span of three years, in which Haskell regularly engaged in offensive conversations about women.

Hagan still advocated for the competition despite the criticism she faced.

Pageant officials wrote that when one former Miss America died, they wished it had been a different former Miss America, Kate Shindle, instead.

And Mr Haskell wrote of tactics that would drive 1989 Miss America Gretchen Carlson "insane".

The Miss America Organization told The Associated Press that Haskell has already apologized to its board.

In a series of emails, obtained and published by the Huffington Post, Haskell body shames a former Miss America and uses vulgar terms to describe the same pageant victor.

"My hope is that this story that broke will bring light to the type of behaviour that's been in leadership of the Miss America Organisation and really help us put in place some people who care and who embody the mission of Miss America", Ms Hagan said in a Twitter video. "The Board of Directors took the allegations very seriously, investigated them, and considers the matter closed".

Hagan, who won the Miss America title for NY in 2013, reacted to the emails, which commented on her sex life and weight, on NBC's Today show Friday.
