Mario Batali quits restaurants amid sexual misconduct allegations

The chef released a statement in which he apologised for his actions and said that the accusations "match up" with his behaviour.

However, the restaurateur has since issued another apology, this time via an e-mailed statement to his newsletter subscribers, and people aren't happy. "I take full responsibility and am deeply sorry for any pain, humiliation or discomfort I have caused to my peers, employees, customers, friends and family".

In an apology in his online newsletter, posted Friday night, Batali wrote, "My behavior was wrong and there are no excuses. Without the support of all of you - my fans - I would never have a forum in which to expound on this".

"I have work to do to try to regain the trust of those I have hurt and disappointed. Starts off ok, but he includes a recipe at the end", one tweeter posted Saturday. That would've been a reasonable plan. if Batali hadn't topped off the December 15 email blast with a plug for one of his own holiday recipes.

"A 30 for 30 on how Mario Batali came to the decision that posting a cinnamon roll recipe with an apology responding to sexual harassment allegations was a good idea", New York Times culture writer Sopan Deb tweeted. "It was insulting to his victims".

The President said he is willing to accept members of the LGBT community to become part of his administration as long as they are qualified.

As if being fired from a high-profile TV gig for sexual misconduct wasn't disgraceful enough, Mario Batali just had to add a cherry on top.

"Upon completing its review into the allegations made against Mario Batali, ABC has terminated its relationship with him and he will no longer appear on The Chew", the network confirmed in a statement to USA TODAY.

Allegations of sexual misconduct by the chef surfaced this week in a report published by Eater, the restaurant news site.

Since the allegations, the celebrity chef has been removed from the television show "The Chew", as well as been asked to step down from "day to day operations" at his restaurants.
