Karnataka Congress to boycott elections if there are EVMs?

While the BJP won 14 out of 16 Mayor's posts where EVM was used, it had to bite the dust in other polls - Nagar Nigam, Nagar Palika Parishad (chairmen), Nagar Palika Parishad (members), Nagar Panchayat (chairmen) and Nagar panchayat (members) - where ballot papers were used. "And, I can say with full confidence that if the 2019 Lok Sabha polls are held by ballot paper, (the BJP) will not come to power", the BSP supremo said on Saturday.

Similarly, in the Nagar Panchyat Chairman polls, the BSP contested in 357 seats in which 268 (75 per cent) of its candidates lost their deposits.

The BJP has won only on those seats where EVMs were used, Samajwadi Party's national general secretary Ramgopal Yadav said at a press conference here on Tuesday. He said the BJP lost the Nagar Palika and Nagar Parishad elections.

The SP leader pointed out that the BJP won only 914 seats in nagar palika parishads out of 5,261 and a mere 662 of the 5,390 wards in nagar panchayats.
