Google pulls YouTube from Amazon streaming devices

Amazon stopped selling Chromecast devices back in 2015, it never sold Google Home devices at all, and it recently pulled some Nest devices from its store after YouTube was removed from the Echo Show.

If the fight between Amazon and Google is not resolved, it raises the prospect consumers will be forced into purchasing a growing number of competing devices to access online services they could once access through one device.

This time though, the block hammer has been dropped over the Amazon retail empire's perceived lack support for Google's growing array of hardware.

The inability to access YouTube from an otherwise capable streaming device is undoubtedly a huge drawback for Echo Show and Fire TV owners.

Here's The Most-Liked & Retweeted Tweets of 2017
Coming in second with 1.7 million retweets was President Barack Obama , who took three of the top 10 spots on the list. Of course, the political atmosphere in America, activism and hashtags ruled Twitter, with #Resist the most used.

However, a Google source told Engadget, the resentment over the implementation of the YouTube app on Amazon devices, which Google previously said "violates its terms of service", continues. Google also left the Fire TV off the list of streaming players to be supported by YouTube TV in what is likely a continuation of their fight with Amazon. "We hope to resolve this with Google as soon as possible". In November, Google said Amazon also stopped selling some of its connected home devices from its Nest subsidiary. Amazon had explained the move by saying it wanted to avoid confusing customers who might expect its Prime Video service to be available on devices sold by Amazon.

In September, Google cut off YouTube from the Amazon Echo Show, which had displayed videos on its touchscreen without video recommendations, channel subscriptions and other features.

Amazon's decision to launch what was essentially a hacked version of YouTube on the Echo Show is where things heated up. The Apple TV, as a prime example, is not available via Amazon. Google seems to be betting that Amazon will want to get YouTube back up and running on its flagship video products before long, so it can afford to take a hard line here.
