Four people seriously injured by Israeli fire at Gaza border

The Israeli military says it has struck Hamas military positions in the Gaza Strip after Palestinian militants fired a rocket toward southern Israel.

The last week has seen the largest number of rockets fired at Israel from the Strip since the 2014 Gaza war. "In response to the rocket, an IDF tank and the IAF targeted Hamas terror posts in the southern Gaza Strip", the IDF Spokesperson's Unit wrote on its official Twitter page.

It was the first rocket fire since Friday evening that triggered repeated Israeli strikes throughout that night and into Saturday in which two members of Hamas's military wing were killed.

On Thursday, Israel also used air strikes and tank fire into Gaza after what a military statement described as "a projectile" was sacked into southern Israel. The IDF denied any responsibility for the incident.

Soldiers stationed at Nahal Oz military base, along the border with Gaza, opened live fire at Palestinian protesters who approached the border fence, injuring four of them, including two seriously.

This is the second rocket firing from the Gaza Strip in a day.

The IDF reported that it tracked progress of the tunnel even before it extended into Israeli territory utilizing "unique tools combined with advanced technology, intelligence and operational capabilities". They insist that Jerusalem is the single and indivisible capital of Israel.
