Xiaomi unveils Mi Power Bank 2i, priced starting INR 799

"This is something we started thinking in the begining of this year, that can we extend the same programme to other categories (of products) also", Manu Jain, Vice President, Xiaomi and Managing Director, Xiaomi India told IANS here.

Days after teasing a new "i" product, Xiaomi on Tuesday launched the Mi Power Bank 2i lineup as its very first "Made in India" power banks in the country.

With the help of the 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i, it is possible to charge smartphones, tablets, and laptops using the integrated dual USB output. Talking about the pricing, the Mi Power Bank 2i with 10,000mAh and 20,000mAh costs Rs. 799 and Rs. 1,499 in India. They will be available to buy from mi.com from November 23 and from offline partners in December. Moreover, the Noida plant is capable of manufacturing seven power banks per minute. With this move, Xiaomi is looking to make the power bank segment of its own in India.

The plan of establishing a new facility to manufacture the new Mi Power Bank range in the country was sketched a year ago. Turns out, it was all for nothing, ok maybe not nothing, but just a power bank. It likewise claims "fake" Mi Power Banks wind up offering a great deal in the market and plans to battle this by including a "Mi" hologram to packaging "Made in India" Power Banks.

The 10000mAh Power Bank 2i also has the aluminium built like the 10000mAh Power Bank 2, while the 20000mAh variant comes with a polycarbonate body. They have single-port Quick Charge 3.0 support, high-density lithium polymer batteries inside dual (5.1V/ 3.6A) USB output feature, which means users can charge two devices simultaneously or extend your power to others in need. I remember when Xiaomi used to even import "Made in India" stickers from China to put on the phones.

The 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 2i is compatible with a wide range of devices and adjusts power output to match device's requirement.

Both the devices can also charge low power devices such Bluetooth headsets and fitness band by simply double pressing the power button to enter 2-hour low power charging mode.
