Missouri starts investigating Google's business practices

The Missouri attorney general's office is investigating whether Google has run afoul of consumer protection or antitrust laws in the state.

The investigation will seek to determine if Google has violated the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act - its principal consumer-protection law - and other state antitrust laws, according to a statement.

Google agreed to change some business practices the FTC said were stifling competition in certain markets.

"It is a very strong concern that we have potentially in Google a company that is gathering all sorts of personal confidential information and then using that personal confidential information for profit", says Hawley. In a statement, Hawley said he also hopes to glean whether the practice.

In addition to online users' location, device information, cookie data, online queries, and website history, Hawley says it is estimated that Google has access to 70% of all card transactions in the United States. "I will not let Missouri consumers and businesses be exploited by industry giants".
