JJ Abrams gave Jimmy Kimmel an epic surprise gift

The director surprised Kimmel with a comic book that the host wrote as a kid, titled "The Terrific Ten", centered around a team of 10 peculiar superheroes.

While it's probably safe to say that we're all unbelievably pumped for this weekend's release of the Justice League movie, it's interesting to note that some other DC trivia is being brought to light that's entirely separate from the big team-up flick. Kimmel quickly remembered all the characters' names, which include Muscle Man, Color Kid, Lucky Lad and Super Duck (an unashamed rip-off of Marvel's Howard the Duck). Alongside the iconic pairing of Affleck and Damon, the trailer also features Jennifer Aniston, Zach Galifianakis, Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Cousin Sal, Jon Hamm, Shaq, Ty Burrell, Billy Crudup, Jake Tapper and Wanda Sykes. Batman's got one of the most impressive, deep rogue galleries in all of comics, and I think it's time more of them were given the love they deserve! Damon shows up as their the evil, melodramatic nemesis, Dr. Bolt, it shows just how successful and loved Jimmy Kimmel has become in Hollywood. Abrams showed the pages of the original comic book - published by Kimmel Komix - on the air as Kimmel recalled his inspiration for his early creation.

"It demanded to be brought to life", Abrams told Kimmel before the trailer screened.

In comic-book lore, the Justice League didn't come together until 22 years later to take down a giant interstellar starfish. Deborah Snyder says Justice League 2 "would be amazing" but DC's lineup is already plenty busy.

"We all suck", laments Damon's Mr Bolt towards the end of the trailer, before laying into Kimmel. "Can you get it?' And I said, 'Ya know, I have some connections.' And then he told me who he wanted to be".

After Abrams and Affleck debuted their project, Kimmel called it "the best gift I ever got".
