Jack Swagger signs with Bellator MMA

PWInsider reports that during the MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Jake Hager (Jack Swagger) signed a contract with Bellator MMA to compete in their heavyweight division next year.

Now at 35, Hager will make his move into MMA where he hopes to debut for Bellator in the heavyweight division in 2018. "Maybe I got away from that for too long".

Hager, who wrestled and played football for the Sooners, was among the nation's best collegiate performers in 2006.

Before entering professional wrestling, Hager was a standout amateur wrestler at the University of Oklahoma.

Giants' owners: Despite 'extremely disappointing season,' Ben McAdoo has support
But the San Francisco 49ers were playing the New York Giants , a team that typically lets tight ends roam free in the secondary. The team looks as though they've quit on their head coach while he remains defiant and, at times, angsty with the media.

In 2008 he won the ECW Championship, while he became World Heavyweight Champion a year later. The deal will see Hager make his MMA debut inside a Bellator cage.

Another pro wrestler is trying their hand at mixed martial arts. "That's really why I left".

Hager was released by WWE in March and quickly announced an interested in competing in MMA.

Amusing enough, Hager's bracket in wrestling that year also featured future UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, former Bellator champion Cole Konrad as well as current American Top Team wrestling coach Steve Mocco. He has yet to fight again. "I feel like they are very excited to have me be a part of their roster, not just be a freak show coming in to take some money".
