Ford launches EcoSport at Rs 7.31 lakhs in India

"The all new EcoSport reinforces our commitment to the Indian market.We have increased the level of localisation to 85 per cent from around 60-65 per cent when the model was first launched in 2013", Ford India Managing Director and President Anurag Mehrotra told reporters here.

The new EcoSport also has a reverse camera and more functions like tyre pressure monitoring, automatic lamps, daytime running lights, automatic wipers, cruise control and speed limited added to it.

Ford India has however discontinued the Ecoboost petrol engine, variant of which was available in the earlier EcoSport version due to less demand.

On the safety front, you get ABS with EBD and dual front airbag as standard, front seat belt with pretensioner, seat belt reminder for driver, power door locks, and crash unlocking system among others. The rear end of the new Ford EcoSport remains unchanged and also features an integrated skid plate on the rear bumper. Besides the front, the top-end variant gets 17-inch alloy wheels with low profile tyres.

Inside, the changes are quite extensive though the EcoSport does retain its all-black interior theme. The biggest change in the new petrol motor will be a new six-speed torque convertor automatic unit. It supports most of the modern connectivity options including Bluetooth, USB and AUX along with the smarter connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The infotainment display is connected to a 7-speaker audio system. 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift comes with a plethora of cosmetic updates both outside as well as inside the cabin, while debuting an all-new petrol engine. A new 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine has been introduced. The diesel version of the new EcoSport is carried over from the pre-facelift SUV and still displaces 1.5-litres. The petrol-automatic model also features paddleshifters, hill start assist, ESC and traction control, while the top-spec Titanium+ trim gets side and curtain airbags along with Isofix child-seat mounts at the rear. Besides this, there will be a 5-speed manual gearbox for standard variant. The 1,498cc four-cylinder engine of the diesel EcoSport produces 98.6bhp at 3,750rpm and 205Nm of torque between 1,750-3,250rpm.
