Biden unsure if 2020 run 'appropriate thing for me to do'

Former Vice President Joe Biden did not rule out the possibility of a potential presidential run against Donald Trump in 2020 during an interview on TODAY Monday.

The "Outnumbered" hosts remarked that the former vice president's "I've been around too long" might not be the slogan Democrats need.

"I'm not closing the door", said Biden, who added that he was in good health. "And I'd much prefer to be helping someone turn it around than being the guy trying to turn it around", Biden said in an interview with Snapchat's "Good Luck America", according to The Associated Press, which was given a clip of the exchange.

"I was joking", Biden laughed when Lauer brought the moment up on Monday.

Biden was asked if he could've beaten Trump in the election.

During their meeting, Duterte thanked Turnbull for coming to the Philippines and having the bilateral talk with him. The Chinese leader, however, would not back down on Beijing's territorial claim, Mr Duterte said.

"I think there's real reason why a lot of middle class people are legitimately concerned with digitalization, artificial intelligence, whether there are gonna be jobs in the future", Biden said.

The former vice president also addressed controversies in a book by Donna Brazile, the former interim chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, in which Brazile said she considered replacing Hillary Clinton with Biden in the 2016 election after Clinton fainted.

"I give you my word, the first time I or any of my staff heard about of anything about that was in the book, " he said. Regarding the presidential elections in 2020, he said that he is not completely ruling out the issue, but at this time he is not ready to stage a political campaign.

"I had planned on running for president and although it would have been a very hard primary, I think I could have won", he said in March.

Biden's new book, published by Flatiron Books, is due to be released on Tuesday.
