Tottenham boosted as Danny Rose and Erik Lamela return to training

Tottenham Hotspur left back Danny Rose is yet to feature for his side this season due to injury.

Spurs are likely to drive a hard bargain and demand a huge fee for Rose, who has established himself as one of the best left backs in the Premier League over the past three years. Spurs will not want to lose Rose, but they have a ready-made replacement in Ben Davies, who is only a notch or two below the England global in an attacking sense, and offers greater reliability in defence.

His last game was against Sunderland on 31 January.

England full-back Rose has been sidelined since late January with a knee injury and Argentinian midfielder Lamela has not played in nearly 12 months due to hip problems. But after five months of rehabilitation he returned to first-team training this week and is understood to be feeling good.

Lamela has been missing for even longer, having picked up a hip problem that has prevented him from playing since October 25 previous year.

Rose being on the sidelines did not prevent Manchester United from mulling over a possible summer swoop for him, but thankfully for Spurs' fanbase his injury halted the Red Devils from making an official bid.

Doncaster-born Rose, who joined Spurs as a teenager in 2007, has made it clear that he intends to return to the north of England before he retires.

This comes after the player claimed the club lacked ambition during the summer transfer window, which he was later fined for.
