Swaraj assures help to Russian tourist begging in Kancheepuram temple

A 24-year-old Russian, left with no money, started begging after he could not withdraw money using his bank ATM card as the PIN got locked.

When the matter reached to the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, she assured the youth for the help. Following a news report, Swaraj took to Twitter and said,"Evangelin - Your country Russian Federation is our time-tested friend".

The Russian tourist identified as A. Evangelin resorted to seeking alms after he found his ATM card blocked on Tuesday. "Yes, we are granting visa for your father's liver transplant surgery in India", Ms. Swaraj tweeted on Monday in reply to a Pakistan resident Hamid Ali Ashraf, whose father Mohammed Ashraf is to be treated at the Max Hospital in Saket, as per PTI report. He went to Kancheepuram from Chennai, and visited a few temples in the town.

Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has ensured all help to the young Russian scholar, who ran out of cash and was frantically trying to collect some money in order to reach the Russian consulate in Chennai.

In addition, the company said it was in talks with other investors that it hopes will lead to an additional $1 billion of capital. It recently invested in Grab, Uber's rival in Singapore, and has a stake in Didi Chuxing in China.

Evangelin arrived at the Kumarakottam Sri Subramanya Swami temple, sat at the entrance with his backpack, and sought alms using his cap.

When the local police came to know about this, they reached the spot and took him to the police station. After perusing his travel documents, they reportedly gave some money to him for travel to Chennai.

Well, it is not the first time that Sushma Swaraj has helped someone in need.
