New evidence raises questions about timeline of Las Vegas shootings

The hotel says Las Vegas police officers and armed hotel guards immediately responded to the shooting and the company is continuing to cooperate with police.

Stephen Paddock, the identified 64-year-old shooter showered outdoor concertgoers with bullets from his hotel room in the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino during the last day of Route 91 country music festival in Las Vegas. Earlier it was reported that Jesus Campos had come to Paddock's room amid the shooting, thus stopping his deadly gunfire.

Hotel officials believe Paddock began shooting into the concert crowd "at the same time as, or within 40 seconds after" the wounded guard, Jesus Campos, used his radio to call for help, the statement said. That report was collected manually after the fact and new information is now available, MGM Resorts said Thursday in a statement. According to police, Paddock fired until 10:15 p.m.

He similarly told Tracy that his judgment was "unacceptable" and unworthy of a leadership role in the department. An internal investigation with the police department found evidence that the officers violated several policies.

But now, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said Monday that Campos was shot before the shooting began, roughly at around 9:59 p.m., and authorities now say they "didn't know why Paddock stopped his attack on the crowd", The Los Angeles Times reported.

"Nobody's trying to be nefarious, nobody's trying to hide anything, and what we want to do is draw the most accurate picture we can", he said in a television interview Wednesday. He also said that police discovered that a guard was shot when they met him in the hallway after getting off the elevator.

Police declined to comment on MGM's statement. The first police officers arrived on the hotel floor at 10:17 pm. and saw the wounded Campos at 10:18 pm, who directed the officers to the killer's suite.
