Amazon Debuts (Parent-Controlled) Shopping Accounts for Teens

Amazon has introduced a new way for teenagers to shop on Amazon using a unique login.

When a teen finds something they wish to order, they can place the order on the Amazon App, and parents will receive a text or email showing the item, cost, shipping address and payment information.

"As a parent of a teen, I know how they crave independence, but at the same time that has to be balanced with the convenience and trust that parents need", said Michael Carr, vice president of Amazon Households, in a statement. And the option to enroll in the program on a monthly basis eliminates the need for cash-strapped students to have to commit to the full-year Amazon Prime membership if they don't want to. This will send parents a message with details of the order.

Notably, kids can also access their parents' Prime membership at no extra cost as part of this setup.

Trump to visit United Kingdom in early 2018
Theresa May's offer of a state visit to the first-term President was greeted with the threat of mass protests by opponents. Instead of the traditional "special relationship" tour, it is likely to form part of a trip to several countries.

The second way has parents giving their teens monthly spending limits so their Amazon shopping doesn't get out of hand. Once the order is placed, parents can see an itemized invoice and are able to cancel and return items, according to Amazon.com's normal terms.

Parents can set up the teen accounts in two ways. Once a teen receives an invitation, they can create their own username and password.

The teen accounts are a part of Amazon Households, an existing Amazon feature that lets Prime members share accounts and payment methods with other family members.

Parents also have to go to amazon.com/forteens and click on the "Parents Start Here" option, then "Get Started Now" on the next page and log in to Prime.
