Why 6'4" Lt. Saru on 'Star Trek: "Discovery' Walks Like Supermodel

Why 6'4

The show takes place ten years before Captain Kirk's escapades in The Original Series, potentially laying the groundwork for some obligatory references. However, watching the entire first season won't be as simple as flipping on your television to CBS, as the new series will be part of its new streaming service, CBS All Access.

Just hours ahead of the highly anticipated series premiere, CBS All Access has released Discovery's opening credits.

Subsequent episodes will be available at 8:30PM ET / 5:30PM PT starting Sunday, October 1st. It's definitely not what fans will be expecting, but it also sets the series apart, immediately letting us know that this series will be dramatic and new and perhaps nothing like what we've seen before on Star Trek TV. Otherwise more than a million of us wouldn't happily pay for Netflix every month, even though all that content is available for free on the BitTorrent channel.

North Korea Says Sanctions Threaten Survival of Its Children
Experts say Trump's speech could have an opposite effect, intensifying the deteriorating situation in the Korean peninsula . Trump had threatened to "totally destroy" North Korea in his first speech on the United Nations floor on Tuesday.

Star Trek: Discovery premieres tonight, Sunday, September 24 at 8:30 p.m ET/PT on CBS with the following fourteen episodes coming exclusively on the CBS All Access streaming service weekly. All Access also offers a discount of 15% off of an annual plan. Central, although times may vary according country and service used.

Blending various visual elements from Star Trek lore - costumes, phasers, the Vulcan salute, the U.S.S. Discovery itself, and much, much more - the (literally) artful opening titles should make anyone stoked for the franchise's return to the small-screen.

The show stars Sonequa Martin-Green (First Officer Michael Burnham), Jason Isaacs (Capt. Gabriel Lorca), Michelle Yeoh (Capt. Phillipa Georgiou), Doug Jones (Lt. Saru), Anthony Rapp (Lt. Paul Stamets), Shazad Latif (Lt. Ash Tyler), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culbert), James Frain (Sarek) and Mary Wiseman (Ensign Sylvia Tilly).
