MLB's schedule opens March 29, earliest regular start

Opening Day is moving to a Thursday and it's earlier in the season than ever before - March 29.

The 2018 Major League Baseball season will begin on March 29, the earliest start in the sport's history excluding worldwide openers.

The time of Cincinnati's Opening Day will be announced at a later date. The Wednesday and Thursday after the All-Star Game are traditionally baseball-free, but the season will resume one day early next year.

The pushed-up openers, which will give each team three or four extra off-days and create an extra weekend of action, results from the collective bargaining agreement on which the players and owners agreed last December.

The Reds organization released its tentative 2018 schedule, which included the earliest Opening Day in Major League Baseball history. This season the first game was on April 2 and most teams started on April 3.

And instead of cutting off Pyongyang's oil supply, the council would only cap crude oil exports to North Korea at current levels. China is North Korea's main ally and by far its biggest trading partner, including for oil shipments. "The choice is theirs".

The Reds' 2018 Opening Day will be the earliest ever.

On Tuesday, Major League Baseball released the schedule for the 2018 season, and there were plenty of small nuggets that will catch the eyes of baseball fans (aside from those looking to plan summer road trips). Furthermore, several seasons have started off with March games held in overseas venues, like when the Dodgers took on the Diamondbacks at the Sydney Cricket Ground back in 2014. The Nationals have never played here on Opening Day, though their predecessors, the Montreal Expos, opened here in 1970, "87, '93 and '96".

All 30 teams will begin their respective season on March 29, marking the first time in a half-century that every club opens play on the same day. And there were only 20 teams at that point. Twelve teams will have Friday, March 30 off, which isn't common either.

The final day of the 2018 regular season features 12 divisional games on September 30, including the Yankees visiting the rival Boston Red Sox.
