Manager Redknapp leaves Birmingham

The 70-year-old former Tottenham boss was brought in on a rescue mission at the end of last season and succeeded in keeping Blues in the Championship.

Redknapp came to St Andrews with three games left of last season, winning two to help the Blues fight off relegation.

But despite investing heavily in new players over the last few months, Birmingham have chose to axe the 70-year-old after six successive defeats, which sees them sitting second from bottom of the Championship.

We thank him for all his efforts and wish him good luck for the future.

There will be no further comment at this time.

Tanner Lee threw two touchdowns in first quarter … to Northern Illinois
Three series later, Lee was hit while throwing and the Huskies' Jawuan Johnson returned the flutter ball 25 yards for a 14-0 lead. He said he planned to have his defensive line coach, Brett Diersen, prep the team and coaching staff.

The veteran manager has been sacked by Birmingham City after just eight Championship games this season.

Although after making 14 signings over the summer, including signing Jota from Brentford for a club record fee, some are wondering whether firing Redknapp was the smartest decision.

"I do not come to work because I need the money, I enjoy the job and leaving home at 5.15 every morning".

"I had to do well this year but I would have stayed because I loved it there, absolutely loved my time there".

Carsley has a growing reputation in the game and is believed to be high on the list of candidates for the job, with former Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka believed to be keen on the role, as is Redknapp's former assistant Steve Cotterill. However, a dismal run of form has seen Birmingham sink to 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship table - effectively sealing Redknapp's fate.
