Colin Trevorrow will no longer direct Star Wars: Episode IX

Although not officially booted off Rogue One, Gareth Edwards was quietly sidelined during the film's reshoots so Tony Gilroy could take over, while Josh Trank was dropped from a Star Wars anthology film following the reports of his behaviour on the set of the disastrous Fantastic Four reboot.

Since Episode IX isn't now filming, there is some leeway for Lucasfilm to find a new director.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is doubtful he'll take on Episode IX.

It's been three days since Lucasfilm announced that Colin Trevorrow would no longer be directing Star Wars: Episode IX, and now some more information is beginning to emerge about what happened.

"When the reviews for Book of Henry came out, there was immediately conjecture that Kathy was going to dump him because they weren't thrilled with working with him anyway", the executive continued. "He's a hard guy".

You can join the game, fight the wars, play with form all you want, but to find real peace, you have to let the armor fall. Twirling around reporter Catt Sadler , Carrey started things off by letting her know, "there's no meaning to any of this".

Kathy, of course, is eight-time Academy Award-nominated Lucasfilm president/Star Wars brand manager Kathleen Kennedy, who found herself beneath the red-hot scrutiny of Movie Twitter in June after firing co-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller from the Han Solo spinoff prequel. "Let's call it that".

This is not the first time that a "Star Wars" movie departed from its director.

Trevorrow had previously told Esquire that being a director is about pushing one's self-confidence just shy of the point of being arrogant, but it sounds like he may have pushed a little too far. Although, hearing someone say, from the start, that being overly self-assured is the path to success in a collaborative creative environment probably could've clued everyone in to which side of the line between confidence and arrogance he was likely to land on.

In that instance, it's reported that Lord and Miller also had strong ideas about how they wanted to do the film which contradicted Lucasfilm's plans, but Kennedy still kept trying to keep everything on track until eventually things came to a head. This insider worked with Trevorrow on Jurassic World and The Book of Henry but not on Star Wars: Episode IX.

In both cases, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy's relationships with the filmmakers became strained and unmanageable which resulted in them heading off into the sunset. You're done. A lot of these young, new directors want to come in and say, 'I want to do this. "And they don't want to play by the rules". Perhaps he should become the go-to director that Kennedy is looking for.
