Charles Bradley, Beloved Soul Singer, Dead at 68

The news was announced via the singer's official Twitter account on Saturday. "Thank you for your thoughts and prayers in se hard times", has tweeted official account of soul singer, Saturday, 23 September.

Representatives for the singer said that "Mr. Bradley was truly grateful for all the love he's received from his fans and we hope his message of love is remembered and carried on". He released his debut album No Time For Dreaming in 2011, which was praised for it's classically-informed soul sound and Bradley's powerful and charismatic voice. Bradley passed away Saturday from cancer, which he was diagnosed with in October 2016. Bradley died in Brooklyn after his cancer returned and spread to his liver.

Born in 1948 in Gainesville, Fla., Bradley moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., when he was eight years old and endured a very tough childhood.

It wasn't until Bradley's sister took him to James Brown's landmark performance at the Apollo Theater that he wanted to pursue a singing career.

Death at age of 68 of cancer, according to magazine, RollingStone, american artist discovered on later released her last album, Changes, in 2016.

Donations can be made in Bradley's memory to the All-Stars Project and Music Unites.

Bradley, known as the "Screaming Eagle of Soul" for his impassioned performances, famously found musical success late in life.

Speaking to Rolling Stone a year ago, Bradley said he couldn't envision a future that didn't involve some level of performance. "We love you." Singer-songwriter Neko Case said, over a picture of Bradley and Sharon Jones, that "I've had the honor of being completely and utterly blown off stage by both of these sweethearts". "I open their hearts up and they feel the love of my heart and when I go out there and really respond to 'em and talk to 'em, they tell me some things".
