Bengaluru: Kidnapped son of Income Tax officer killed, body found near lake

On a video shot on a cellphone, the college student pleads, "Hello Appa, I have been kidnapped".

As per reports, the police have arrested six, including a friend of the deceased named Vishal. They first disposed of the body in the Narasimaiah lake, but it resurfaced on the third day, forcing them to fish out the bloated body and drive around the city, until they made a decision to bury it at Kurubarapalya Bande from where it was exhumed on Friday morning. However, Rathore said, the abductors panicked as they thought they would be caught by the police if they released Sharath and chose to kill him the same night. The police have recovered a auto used by the kidnappers and added that investigation is under way.

After Vishal realised that the family had approached the police, the gang allegedly strangled Sharath and dumped the body into a lake.

When Sharath did not return home till late evening on September 12, his parents got anxious, and registered a police complaint.

"One more accused (Shanthakumar) is absconding and we are trying to nab him", Bengaluru Police Commissioner Suneel Kumar told reporters here.

Vishal and his accomplices had hatched a plot on September 10 to kidnap Sharath and demand a ransom of Rs 50 lakh to make "quick money and settle in life", police said.
