Suspended Fox News host Eric Bolling sues reporter for $50 million

"Yashar Ali, a reporter for the Huffington Post, on Wednesday said he "received a summons" related to Bolling's suit against him for "defamation" and "$50 million in damages".

A Fox News spokesperson said in a statement Saturday that Bolling was suspended "pending the results of an investigation, which is now underway".

Bolling himself tweeted Wednesday evening, "I will continue to fight against these false smear attacks!"

Bolling was suspended from Fox News after being accused of sending unsolicited photos of male genitalia to several colleagues at various departments over a span of several years. "I stand by my reporting + will protect my sources".

Fox has brought in the Paul Weiss law firm to lead an investigation into the allegations.

Ali made another observation: "It's important to note that Bolling's summons does not include HuffPost - he is coming after me personally", Ali tweeted.

The female employees said they knew it came from Bolling because of the phone number used in the message, with The Huffington Post citing more that dozen sources in their report.

HBO hackers reveal executive emails, 'Game of Thrones' script
Draft scripts for five episodes of Game of Thrones have reportedly leaked online, including this week's new episode. Specifically, the hackers said HBO should consider the ransom "another budget for [its] advertisements".

Prior to Bolling's tweet his attorney called the allegations "not true."

The publication said that two female colleagues at the Fox Business Network and one co-worker at Fox News were the recipients of the tawdry text.

Ali told CNN that he worked on the story for three months before finally publishing it. Asawin Suebsaeng of The Daily Beast wrote on Twitter that the allegations were "an open secret" and that he had been working on a similar piece, but noted, "good on Yashar for beating us".

'The anonymous, uncorroborated claims are untrue and terribly unfair, ' Bolling's attorney Michael J. Bowe wrote in an email.

HuffPost, which was not named in the lawsuit, issued a statement saying, "Ali is a careful and meticulous reporter". That's the same firm that investigated former chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, who was ousted from the network just two days after the firm began investigating. "Thank you I look forward to clearing my name asap". Bolling signed a multi-year contract extension with Fox in June.

"I did hundreds of appearances on Fox and Fox Business from 2008 - 2011, and had multiple experiences with Bolling that caused grave concern to my friends and family", Heldman wrote in a Facebook post.

The Hill has reached out to Fox News and HuffPost for comment.
