PM Shahid Abbasi to visit Karachi today

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is likely to arrive in Karachi on Saturday (today).

The prime minister asked the chief minister Sindh to play his role in forging working relationship with the local government and improvement in the security situation of the province.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Governor Muhammad Zubair received him.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi announced a state funeral for Dr Pfau, who, despite originally being from Germany, made eliminating leprosy from Pakistan her life's mission. He said the federal government will also follow the same path in order to ensure continuity of the system.

Afterwards, the prime minister met with a delegation of MQM-P.

One of the most significant engagements of the prime minister was his meeting with the leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) at the Governor House. He said in the meeting it was decided that the Rangers would keep up their task and the federal government would extend its full support to them to achieve the desired results.

The premier will visit the Quaid's mausoleum, ahead of the seventieth independence day. "He has not targeted any individual or any institution".

Led by Dr Farooq Sattar, the MQM-Pakistan leaders shared "their grievances", mostly related to political activities and the issues being faced by the party's elected municipal administration. Zubair, Ahsan Iqbal, State Bank of Pakistan governor and the FBR chairman were also present during the meeting, PM's Office media wing informed in a press release.

During a meeting with the business community and leaders of the Pakistan Business Council, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he assured them that their proposals for economic growth and increase in investment would be given due consideration.

To a question, he said he would hold the prime ministerial office till the party wanted so. He said in Hyderabad the federal government would fund the construction of a university, besides other development projects.

Regarding security challenges, he said, they had always evolved consensus among all the stakeholders to address these challenges, and would continue to do so.

The prime minister said that he was extremely happy and thankful to be among the business community in his first visit to Karachi.
