Jurgen Klopp comments on Philippe Coutinho Barcelona transfer

When asked whether Coutinho's request changed the club's stance, Klopp replied: "I don't think so".

Klopp suggested the decision was out of his hands as the "bosses will decide".

WATFORD, England (AP) - Liverpool conceded in second-half injury time to draw 3-3 at Watford on Saturday as the team's defensive frailties flared in its first game of the Premier League season.

Ex-England defender Danny Mills told BBC Radio 5 live that Liverpool should "bite the bullet" and sell the 25-year-old.

"I think Jurgen Klopp's got it under control, I think FSG have got it under control, and they're the key", he explained. The club rejected the request. If they don't sell him, then I'm not involved anymore.

Coutinho, who was Liverpool's leading scorer with 14 goals in all competitions last season, signed a new five-year deal in January.

The latest transfer saga of the summer has divided the Anfield faithful, as the Brazilian has his heart set on a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

Fenway Sports Group released a statement on Friday insisting the player was not for sale at any price and Coutinho responded by making a formal transfer request.

Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah all scored for Liverpool as they were predictably excellent in attack, but the defending was so poor that Alan Shearer reassured them that heading does not actually hurt.

With most of the players on the injury table Klopp is likely to go with the 4-3-3 formation.

"It is going to get messy".
