Donald Trump warns North Korea that U.S. is 'locked and loaded'

The president confirmed he has no idea where he's headed in this whole dick-measuring contest with North Korea on Friday by pretending the answers to frantic questions about said nuclear gamesmanship were so obvious that he didn't need to answer them.

If Kim Jong-un threatened Guam, the United States or any allies again, "he will truly regret it, and he will regret it fast", Trump said. The back-and-forth, which unsettled global markets, prompted Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to dial back on Trump's statement, saying, "nothing that I have seen and nothing that I know of would indicate that the situation has dramatically changed in the last 24 hours".

Inflammatory rhetoric between the United States and North Korea over Pyongyang's nuclear programme soared to new heights this week when North Korea announced plans to fire rockets near Guam, a western Pacific island that is home to a USA military base and around 160,000 people. Russia, however, has said that the missiles were intermediate range.

Mr Calvo has spent most of the week assuring Guam's 160,000 residents of their safety despite the threats. The two countries narrowly avoided a nuclear war. Pyongyang's state media also said North Korea may strike Guam by the end of the August.

"Maybe it wasn't tough enough", he said.

"At the same time, if the USA strikes first and starts war on the Korean Peninsula, China and other countries, including Russia, Japan and South Korea, will be against it".

The president vowed to maintain the world's strongest nuclear force, no matter the cost.

South Korea has almost 19,000 bomb shelters throughout the country but not many are aware of them despite growing North Korean threats. "And I want to stay right there right now".

Trump has repeatedly called on China - the North's biggest ally and trading partner - to help reign in its neighbour, to little avail. Japan moved missile interceptors into position after the Guam threat, the Nikkei newspaper reported.

Trump also told China to step up and do more to pressure North Korea into ending its nuclear weapons program. In response to the tests, the USA and South Korea repeatedly fired surface-to-surface missiles into neutral waters close to Pyongyang.

Yesterday, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said Beijing hopes the relevant parties would speak and act cautiously, and do more to ease tension and enhance trust.

During that war, Japan occupied Guam until US forces helped liberate it. Guam's called the tip of the spear for that reason. He added saying China is ready to pay the price, however, the aim of such sanctions should be to bring North Korea to the negotiating table.

In a press conference, Brigadier General Restituto Padilla Jr., AFP spokesman, said the possibility that the Philippines may be hit if North Korea proceeded with its threat of a missile strike against Guam was "remote". "They create crisis and switch it for maximum gain, and they try negotiations".

She added, however, that we should keep the option of striking first on the table.

Speaking to the Press Association in Bristol, Mr Corbyn said: "We can not play fast and loose with nuclear weapons and nuclear threats because do you know what - a nuclear explosion doesn't stop at national borders, it doesn't stop at the vicinity where the bomb drops".
