Celtics, 76ers to play National Basketball Association regular-season game in London next season

London has become a permanent fixture of the National Basketball Association regular season, as league commissioner Adam SIlver continues his quest to boost the already massive profile of the National Basketball Association across the globe.

Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz will have the opportunity to show the Boston Celtics what they passed up when the two teams play a regular-season game at the O2 Arena in London on January 11.

This will be the league's eighth regular-season contest in London.

"There are players with glitzier games and bigger shoe contracts, but few are more versatile than Jayson Tatum, who flashed the full range of his talents at Summer League", Sports Illustrated's Deantae Price wrote Monday.

"The Boston Celtics have enjoyed a loyal global following for decades, and we welcome the opportunity to connect again with our worldwide fans", said Celtics team president Rich Gotham. Boston sent the No. 1 pick to Philadelphia, which drafted Fultz, in exchange for the third overall pick in June's draft and either a first-rounder in 2018 or 2019.

All-star guard Isaiah Thomas and Boston secured the best record in the Eastern Conference a year ago, advancing to the conference finals before losing to LeBron James and the Cavaliers.

The matchup will be a designated road game for the Celtics - meaning that Boston will not lose a game held at TD Garden this season.

"I know Londoners will be thrilled to see the Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics up close at our world-famous O2".
