"Airline Angel" delivers cancer medication

A Southwest Airlines employee saved the day for a Pittsburgh woman after the bag containing items she needed for chemotherapy treatment the next day failed to arrive at the airport.

Inside her suitcase were medication and special items like a rosary and lucky T-shirt that Hurt, who has colon cancer, planned to take to her chemotherapy appointment the next morning.

But her luggage remained on her previously booked connecting flight, which was rerouted back to Nashville due to mechanical issues.

"I panicked", Hurt, 46, tells PEOPLE.

"I told her how important it was for me to have my luggage because of my items for chemotherapy", Hurt says.

Sharing the photo on Facebook, Hurt wrote that this unexpected act of kindness moved her to tears.

Inside her bags was medication for chemotherapy, in addition to good luck charms and other trinkets she has had since her cancer battle began in 2013. "I just started getting very emotional, and I started to cry", said Stacy. When you have cancer and you have chemo, this is the toughest thing ever'.

She has since been able to thank Ms Rowan personally over social media.

She said: 'I looked up her address to see how far away she lived and she lived about 20 minutes away.

Dutchman Haase tops Schwartzman to reach Rogers Cup semifinals
The 36-year-old Swiss will next face unseeded Dutchman Robin Haase, a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victor over Diego Schwartzman of Argentina. Federer said he knows Haase well from serving with him on the ATP player council and from practicing together.

Ms Rowan assured Ms Hurt she would track down her luggage and when it eventually arrived at Pittsburgh International Airport around 2am, she knew it had missed the last courier and would likely not get to Ms Hurt before her appointment at 9am. "Kick that cancer's BUTT!" read a note Hurt said Rowan left in her luggage on a piece of tissue paper. But the luggage came just in time, because Rowan was still there. She voluntarily drove the suitcase to Stacy's home at 3 o'clock in the morning. She searched around her auto and found a crumpled up piece of tissue and wrote Hurt a message and placed it in the bag.

Rowan said she was moved to help Hurt find the missing luggage because of how nice she was on the phone. "Are you kidding me?,'" said Hurt, who added she already appreciated Southwest because of the accommodations they make for her disabled son.

So she took it upon herself to personally deliver the bag. "Who does this type of thing?"

Hurt later posted a picture of the note Rowan left to Southwest Airlines' Facebook page to thank her for the gesture. Soon, Hurt found Rowan on Facebook, and the two met in person for the first time on August 9.

The next day, Hurt awoke at her home in Bridgeville to find her suitcase on her porch with a heartwarming note. "To meet the woman who helped me during that hurried and panicked night - she's my guardian angel, she's my light in the darkness".

To Rowan, the feeling is mutual.

"You are as attractive as what you did", Hurt told Rowan.

"I had to tell the story because it's a miracle that I'm alive, and the fact that such an extraordinary act of kindness happened to me, I had to share it, we need to hear about the good in this world", Hurt says through tears.
