NY teams remain among the most valuable sports franchises

The Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League come in on top as the most valuable followed in second by baseball's New York Yankees.

Their bitter rivals Liverpool, on the other hand, have fallen out of the top 50 completely.

Arsene Wenger's side fell 20 places and lost 4 per cent of their value, a decline Forbes put down to a fall in the value of the pound following last June's Brexit vote. In those three years, the Cowboys are now worth a reported $4.1 billion, almost double that total, and now stand at No. 1, above Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United. Los Blancos have enjoyed a tough couple of years off the pitch. However, with the significant jumps over the past two years, we may see the Chiefs leapfrog teams in value if the team continues to perform well.

In fact, only four other football teams brush shoulders with the American financial powerhouses of the NFL, NBA and Major League Baseball in Forbes' top 50, where no cricket or rugby franchises are to be found.

Friday's First Warning Forecast: Extreme heat today, a break for the weekend
Some of the storms could be strong to severe, with the main activity taking place after 1 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. High heat and humidity will continue over the next few days as high pressure remains in control of our weather.

Take a look below to see the NY teams that did make it.

After United, Madrid and Barcelona, come German giants Bayern Munich who are ranked as the 15th most valuable sports team in the world at $2.71bn. Only Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills missed out.

American business magazine Forbes have published their latest rich list, which ranks the most wealthy sports clubs across the globe.
