Donald Trump's approval rating falls to 36 percent in new poll

Mr Trump attacked the poll on Twitter, saying on the one hand that "almost 40% [approval] is not bad at this time", before discrediting the poll as "just about the most inaccurate poll around election time!".

Nearly half of the respondents - 48% - said they felt their country's leadership of the world had declined on Trump's watch, and just over a third of them said they trusted him in foreign negotiations, even less when it came to Russian Federation. For context, George W. Bush and Barack Obama both held 59 percent approval ratings in Post/ABC polls conducted around their six-month anniversaries.

In recent weeks, the storm at the White House over alleged Russian links to Mr Trump's presidential campaign has thickened as an incendiary series of emails showed his son Donald Trump Jr worked to set up a meeting with a Russian lawyer who claimed to have incriminating materials about Hillary Clinton.

However, Mr Trump took to Twitter to denigrate the poll, saying it had been "just about the most inaccurate" during the election previous year.

Only a third of those polled trust the president to do a good job in global negotiations, while two-thirds do not trust him in potential dealings with Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom Trump met this month of the first time.

In an open-ended question, negative personal attributes - rather than policy positions - are most mentioned as the top complaints by people who disapprove of Trump: acting inappropriately (13 percent), being ill-informed (12 percent) and making false statements (also 12 percent).

The NBA's Top Pick Has Been Traded
Others think that he’ll continue to use the picks himself and construct a young core that can emerge after the Cavaliers vs. Fultz is an ideal scoring guard to run alongside him, and can also take over point guard duties if the Simmons experiment fails.

But there is some good news for Trump.

Sixty percent said they believe that Russian Federation influence the 2016 presidential election.

Thirty-eight percent of Republicans and 48% of white evangelical Protestants also deemed Trump's behavior unpresidential, according to the poll.

The survey showed that 82 percent of Republicans approved of Trump versus just 11 percent among Democrats. While 58 percent of men call them inappropriate, that jumps to 78 percent among women.

Still, America is roughly evenly divided, 43-4%, on Trump's handling of the economy.

His failed election promise to "immediately" repeal and replace Obamacare has also hurt Mr Trump, with 50 per cent of Americans indicating they prefer the current health care law over the Republican replacement. Meanwhile, fewer than 4 in 10 say the Democratic Party now stands for something, while a slight majority say it "just stands against Trump".
