BRUSH PRAIRIE, Wash. - Texas junior linebacker Malik Jefferson was named to the preseason watch list for the 2017 Butkus Award on Monday morning. Pugh has reportedly been one of the more improved Seminoles this offseason.
Players on this year's Watch List accounted for 10,724 rushing yards, 16,853 receiving yards, 13,548 kickoff return yards, 4,092 punt return yards, and 394 total tackles in 2016. In testament to his versatility, Wilson is the only active player nationally to register touchdowns covering 80 or more yards via rush, reception and return. Pierson-El has eight career returns of at least 25 yards.
The award is presented annually to the nation's best linebacker by the Butkus Foundation.
