Bastille Day celebration on Tour for France's Warren Barguil

Saint-Girons - Colombia's Rigoberto Uran was given a boost ahead of Friday's Tour de France 13th stage start in Saint Girons as his 20-second time penalty was over-turned.

Defending Tour de France champion Chris Froome has admitted "the race is on", after surprisingly giving up the yellow jersey to Fabio Aru at the end of Stage 12.

Although they could not regain the yellow jersey Froome lost on Thursday, they put considerable pressure on Aru's Astana team, which suffered another loss midway through the stage when Criterium du Dauphine victor Jakob Fuglsang abandoned, having ridden for the best part of two days with fractures in his elbow and hand following a stage 11 crash.

The Team Sky rider cracked on the brutal uphill finish, finishing seventh, and Aru pounced to take the race lead by just six seconds.

Mikel Landa was sent up the road in an early breakaway and was eventually joined by Alberto Contador (Trek-Segafredo) and Nairo Quintana (Movistar).

And the 32-year-old Tour star remains just six seconds behind Aru overall, with everything to play for in the Alps next week.

"This just felt so good", he said.

She says she fired her gun when Crutcher did not obey her commands and she thought he was reaching into his vehicle for something. Betty Shelby was allowed to return to active duty and landed a cushy desk job after being acquitted in May of manslaughter .

Bardet climbed to victory on the 214.5km stage to move third overall. "Mikel Landa (Spain / Team Sky) +5" 5. For the second day in a row, he finished ahead of Team Sky leader Froome.

End result: Sky has two riders - Froome and Landa - in the top five.

By stark contrast it was a miserable day for Astana's Jakob Fuglsang, who withdrew from the race with a fractures to his wrist and elbow he suffered on Stage 11.

Froome attacked as they neared the top of the Mur de Perguere, shelling a number of top riders off the back as he tried to rid himself of Aru into the finish.

"It's flawless for us", Froome said. This is the first time Chris Froome has lost the yellow jersey to a general classification contender in the mountains, and it's also the latest he's ever ceded it. Bardet and Uran are also within 30 seconds of him, and both riders looked stronger than Froome today, even with all of his support.

"This shows that Froome is beatable", exhorted Alexander Vinokourov, Aru's Astana team manager. It has turned into the tightest yellow jersey battle in Tour history. Later in his post-stage interview, Froome regretted giving the Italian the freedom to attack and that mistake must be haunting him all the more after Thursday.
