Warriors top Cavaliers to take 2-0 series lead in NBA Finals

Golden State moved within two games of becoming the first National Basketball Association champion to complete an unbeaten playoff run, seizing a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven championship series, which shifts to Cleveland for games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Friday.

James, who last month overtook Michael Jordan to become the NBA's all-time playoff scoring leader, was coached by current Warriors acting coach Mike Brown with the Cavaliers, who appreciates the streak and the longevity James has shown in reaching eight career NBA Finals, the last seven in a row.

The Golden State Warriors turned a one-possession contest into a lopsided affair by outscoring the Cleveland Cavaliers by 11 points in the third quarter of Game 2 of the 2017 NBA Finals at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, Sunday night.

However, the fact that Thompson finally broke out of his shooting funk on Sunday night only bodes well for the Warriors' explosive offense that scored 132 points on 51.7 percent shooting from the field including 41.9 percent from the beyond the arc behind an NBA Finals record 18 made three-pointers. It started with Kevin Durant, who followed his 38-point Game 1 with a 33 points and four threes in Game 2.

Up by three points after the first half, the Warriors scored 35 over the next 12 minutes and built a 102-88 advantage after the third quarter of play, thanks in large part to the shooting of point guard Stephen Curry and small forward Kevin Durant.

LeBron James has been brilliant in the first two games of the NBA Finals, which still have been lopsided losses for his Cleveland Cavaliers.

James was equally spectacular with his own triple-double of 29 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds, but yet again didn't get almost enough help to keep up with the Warriors' depth. After Kyrie Irving slithered past Klay Thompson and sprung temporarily free for a 12-footer, Durant swooped in from the help-side to swat away the jumper.

Curry provided the coach more than a glimpse of his greatness from up close after Kerr had been watching games from the locker room while speaking to his players beforehand and at halftime. He played tough defense and Durant and Curry went off and the Warriors won easily.

Game 3 goes Wednesday night at the Q back in Cleveland.

Trump will not block Comey testimony
Trump has denied that either he or his campaign team in any way cooperated with Russian officials during last year's election. The Missouri Republican tells "Fox News Sunday" that "at some point, we'll hear the president's side".

"Whether it's Mike or me, we're doing the same stuff".

"Obviously with Steph and K.D. and Klay and Draymond, but trying to stop LeBron and Kyrie, Kevin Love was tremendous tonight".

Curry was full of praise for coach Steve Kerr, who was courtside after a six-week absence due to back surgery.

Kyrie Irving scored 24 points in the opener and Love had a big day in Game 2, but starters Tristan Thompson and J.R. Smith have been almost invisible and the bench has offered little help.

"So, I'm excited and it's good to be back". "We have not lost, so that's a good indication that it was not a distraction".

It makes one ask the question how dominant will James have to be when the Series goes back to Cleveland to even extend this one to five games the way Durant and Curry are playing.

Having Kerr there sure did - the Warriors felt whole again.

"It gives us a lot of confidence", Love said. Cleveland shot 3 of 20 on 3s in the first half and 8 for 29 total.
