Victim Will Appear in Court to Support Polanski

Roman Polanski's sexual assault victim has asked a judge to end the 40-year-old case against the fugitive director. Polanski's repeated requests for the same rulings have been denied. Victims and their advocates have been outspoken recently about lenient sentences in sex abuse cases.

Judge Scott Gordon said he would respond in writing and thanked Ms Geimer for her bravery.

He told 54-year-old Geimer that the crimes committed by Polanski are "as serious as this court ever sees", indicating that Roman's appearance in a United States courtroom is still mandated.

Deputy District Attorney Michele Hanisee, who has insisted Polanski return to court to put the matter to rest, opposed Geimer's plea.

Geimer asked Gordon to consider several options in bringing the case against Mr. Polanski to a speedy conclusion.

"It was a much different story - I was a drug-dealing Lolita that cornered him into this, and I was lying and I made it all up - so that's what I dealt with", Geimer said. "I was there. I am fine. It's a really hypocritical view".

Polanski's attorney is seeking to unseal testimony that he says would show judicial misconduct in the case years ago.

On Friday, Samantha Geimer testified in the criminal case for the first time since that day, this time pleading with a judge to sentence Polanski, 83, to time served, so that her family can be released from the media spectacle that has haunted her life since that day.

"It's not the people (state) who have caused her continued suffering", she said.

"She is coming with her husband because she is exhausted of this case going on for 40 years", he said.

The development was revealed by his agent, Bouna Ndiaye, and was reported in a piece made by Shams Charania of The Vertical . Jeanne remains hopeful that he can one day resume his basketball career after extensive medical supervision, Ndiaye said .

On her way into court, she told reporter she was "terrified".

"Your words mean a lot to this court", the judge said without specifying when he would issue his decision. "He owes me nothing. The insults have switched, but I have empathy for the way he was treated because I was treated the same way when this first happened".

Polanski has been fighting for years to end the case and lift an worldwide arrest warrant that confined him to his native France, Switzerland and Poland, where he fled the Holocaust.

Polanski has won eight Cesars over his career and one best-director Oscar for the Holocaust drama "The Pianist".

She said she is deeply disappointed that this case hasn't ended and asked Gordon to consider several paths toward an expedited conclusion: sentencing Polanski in absentia to time served, recalling the global warrant for him, unsealing Gunson's testimony and compelling the DA to investigate the alleged misconduct or dismissing the case altogether.

The director of Rosemary's Baby and Chinatown was accused of drugging Geimer when she was 13 before raping her at the film star Jack Nicholson's house in Los Angeles in 1977. Nicholson was not at the residence at the time.

Polanski agreed to pay Geimer over $600,000 to settle a lawsuit in 1993.

She wrote a memoir in 2013 titled, "The Girl: A Life in the Shadow of Roman Polanski".

Asked why she didn't consider Polanski a pedophile for the crime, Geimer said, "I was nearly 14, I wasn't 10".
