Trump again acknowledges he's under investigation

Rosenstein brought up the possibility of recusing himself during a meeting with the Justice Department's third-in-command - behind Sessions and Rosenstein - Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand, ABC News reported.

Mr Comey testified that Mr Trump directed him in February to drop an FBI investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn relating to the Russian Federation matter.

Like many Trump tweets, it can be read both ways.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is also under investigation as a member of the Trump campaign, leading Sessions to recuse himself from the case and allowing Rosenstein to appoint Mueller to head the investigation, reports Fox News.

His latest tweets follow a report this week in The Washington Post reported that special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's role in the 2016 election is looking into whether the president attempted to obstruct justice. "Witch Hunt", Trump wrote on Twitter, referring to his May 9 dismissal of James Comey.

The Post reported that the obstruction of justice investigation of the president began days after James Comey was sacked as the FBI Director on May 9.

The Senate Intelligence Committee is also continuing its investigation into possible election tampering. Comey was sacked by the president on May 9 while he was overseeing the investigation into potential Russian interference into last year's election and potential collusion with the Trump presidential campaign.

Recent news reports have suggested Mr Trump sought all three officials' help in pressuring Mr Comey to drop his investigation into former national security adviser Mike Flynn. What is clear is that he could order the Justice Department to ax Mueller, which may result in Rosenstein's departure and would certainly intensify the uproar over the investigation.

In another development, members of Trump's transition team that served him after he was elected in November until he took office in January have been ordered to preserve materials related to the Russian Federation matter, the New York Times reported.

"This is a political fight and he's going to fight it", a White House official said regarding president's Friday's tweets.

So, now, Trump tweets it is a witch hunt that Rosenstein is investigating him for firing Comey.

Trump's tweets prompted Sen. Mr. Trump's lawyer has accused the Federal Bureau of Investigation of leaking material.

"Why is that Hillary Clintons family and Dems dealings with Russian Federation are not looked at, but my non-dealings are?" Rosenstein, who would be responsible for actually dismissing Mueller, told US lawmakers he would fire him only with good cause.

On Thursday Trump derided a "witch hunt" against him, led by some "very bad" people.
