Pruitt: Americans Should Not Apologize for Paris Accord Withdrawal

Former New York City mayor and media mogul Michael Bloomberg said his organization Bloomberg Philanthropies, along with a group of partners, has offered to donate up to $15 million to the United Nations to make up for the loss suffered from President Trump's decision to withdraw the USA from the Paris climate agreement. "There is no way", Macron said. Citing the need to stay engaged with the administration, business leaders said they would remain in their advisory roles to continue working to influence White House policies.

A majority of Republicans, 67 percent, support Trump's decision to withdraw the US from the agreement, compared to 25 percent of Republicans who oppose it.

Whatever the industry, companies will be reluctant to change plans based exclusively on the withdrawal from the climate agreement because the pendulum could swing back. She was scathing in her criticism of Trump's move in a statement issued Thursday.

The biggest names in the tech industry have joined a growing coalition of businesses and civic organizations committed to honoring the Paris climate accord, despite no federal support for the agreement.

When asked about the founding of the alliance in a call with reporters, California governor Jerry Brown just about summed it all up.

Trump's Rose Garden announcement that pulled the US out of the Paris agreement was reportedly based on research published by MIT researchers previous year. He spoke directly to scientists and engineers in the U.S.

"IBM believes we can make a constructive contribution by having a direct dialogue with the administration - as we do with governments around the world", a company spokeswoman said.

The deal is partly legally binding and partly voluntary. "We think it's important for countries to work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions".

Key points in the agreement include peaking greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible and achieving a balance between sources of energy in the second half of this century. The process will be reviewed every five years and a $100 billion a year climate finance fund for developing countries is expected to be established by 2020 with further financing in the future.
