Pence reportedly hires his own outside lawyer for Russian Federation questions

Pence is claiming that it's "very routine".

That hasn't stopped Trump from complaining publicly about the probe. A representative of the White House, Sarah Sanders, on Thursday confirmed that Trump trusts him and does not intend to change anything.

Trump lashed out at the Post in a Thursday tweet, calling the report "phony.". He delivered an on-camera statement sharply criticizing James Comey after the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director's recent testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Trump's legal team, denounced the Post report, saying on Wednesday: "The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal".

Trump has railed against the investigation since it began, repeatedly describing it as a witch hunt.

Vice President Mike Pence has hired an outside lawyer to help deal with special counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation.

Pence's office announced on June 15 the decision to hire Richard Cullen, the chairman of McGuireWoods LLP law firm.

Cullen's fees will not be paid for with taxpayer dollars, according to Agen. He also has represented banks owned in part by the Russian government.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho accused of tax fraud
This is similar to deals struck with the Spanish taxman by fellow Argentinians Javier Mascherano and Lionel Messi past year . Ronaldo's former club Manchester United pounced in on the situation to bring him back to Old Trafford.

As Trump's No. 2 and as head of the transition team, Pence has increasingly found himself drawn into the widening Russian Federation investigation. If Pence were innocent, he wouldn't need a lawyer, and if the Vice President didn't think that any crimes were committed, he wouldn't need a criminal defense attorney. The FBI director has been fired for refusing to kill the investigation. Everything Trump says now, Bob Mueller will use against him. "I hope you can let this go".

In the meantime, the Republican Natinal Committee appears to be girding for a fight.

Cullen also served as special counsel to U.S. Senator Paul Trible (R-VA) during the Iran-Contra investigation and was on the staff of Rep. M. Caldwell Butler (R-VA) during the Watergate investigation.

He was joined at the apprenticeship event by several governors, lawmakers and other dignitaries.

Later in the afternoon, Trump and the first lady traveled to the Supreme Court for the investiture ceremony for Justice Neil Gorsuch. Richard Cullen, partner at McGuireWoods, was recently hired as Mike Pence's attorney.

Kushner - Trump's son-in-law - is one of several people close to the president who are "people of interest" in the investigation.

Cullen worked on President George W. Bush's legal team during the Florida recount in the 2000 presidential election.

Examining the possibility of obstruction charges will allow investigators to interview key administration figures including Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and possibly Trump himself, said the source familiar with the Mueller investigation.
