Not just Climate. Trump's exit from Paris agreement has important Health consequences

President Trump badly underestimated the political and diplomatic blowback from withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement.

"North Korea has strong incentives to fight climate change and its potential to erode government control", he wrote in The Conversation at the time. The decision sparked speculation on possible negative effects it may bring for America's worldwide and economical stature and the environment.

"The Trump administration's announcement undermines a key pillar in the fight against climate change and damages the world's ability to avoid the most unsafe and costly effects of climate change", reads the letter signed by local and state government leaders, universities and businesses.

"The United States by withdrawing under Trump has taken a back seat" on fighting climate change, Brown said.

Recently, Cllr David Smith, portfolio holder for planning and environment, said he was "extremely disappointed" Mr Trump had chose to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, adding the council would "continue with their commitment to reduce carbon emissions in this town".

We strongly encourage the President to reconsider this decision, and to restore the U.S.'s full participation in this essential worldwide agreement.

Mayors of cities nationwide are also vowing to do whatever they can to reduce fossil-fuel emissions.

London fire: Queen Elizabeth issues somber message after site visit
Condoling the incident earlier, Londor Mayor Sadiq Khan said , "The bad news, I'm afraid, is lots of people died in the fire". She says she will receive daily reports from the stricken neighbourhood, where hundreds of people have been displaced.

"We just have to hope he's got other things on his mind right now and he doesn't do that", he said.

Hawaii became the leading example of these statements when Gov. David Ige (D), Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell, and other state representatives signed bills SB 559 and HB 1578 into effect on Tuesday.

"It is imperative that the world know that in the US, the actors that will provide the leadership necessary to meet our Paris commitment are found in city halls, state capitals, colleges and universities, investors, and businesses", the governor said. "Instead ... the ones that really lead the way are going to be the most successful in this new economy". If cooperative worldwide action is not taken to reduce carbon emissions at the pace and scale needed, people and wildlife in IL, across North America, and the world will suffer greatly from increased flooding, severe droughts, loss and shifting of habitat and migratory corridors, sea level rise, ocean acidification, loss of snowpack, increased wildfires, and other severe impacts.

He went on to detail that an extensive list of policy actions would be issued within the next 15 days.

Still, the decision was yet another sign the Trump administration is dismissive of science and uninterested in America's role as a leader on the global stage.

Trump's decision to move out of the Paris Agreement was a mistake, said Humphrey School professor Robert Kudrle.

"I think [Trump's actions] suggest a complete collapse of American leadership in the world", he said. "We must acknowledge these realities at home".
