Nadal moves into French Open quarters in ominous style

Djokovic's next opponent, Thiem, has won 33 matches on the year and has yet to drop a set in his four French Open wins.

Rafael Nadal remained in ruthless form at the French Open on Sunday afternoon, beating fellow Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 in one hour and 50 minutes.

The sixth-seeded Austrian, a semifinalist at Roland Garros previous year, next plays either defending champion Novak Djokovic or No. 19 Albert Ramos-Vinolas.

The 14-time major victor is yet to drop a set, conceding just six games in the last two rounds as he strives to become the first man to win 10 titles at a single Grand Slam.

Both these players are the second favourites to win the title at Roland Garros this year, after Rafael Nadal, and it will be interesting to see how this battle pans out.

No. 13 seed Kristina Mladenovic was pushed to the brink by Shelby Rogers, but pulled off another improbable comeback to defeat the American, 7-5, 4-6, 8-6, and reach the second week of her home Grand Slam for the first time.

Carreno Busta has never played in the last eight of a Grand Slam event, and was forced to recover from trailing 1-0 and 2-1 to overcome Milos Raonic over five sets in the quarter-finals.

"I am in the quarter-finals, I am happy and I am playing well".

I like Djokovic to get the semifinals of the French Open yet again. Gael Monfils also advanced in Paris when his compatriot Richard Gasquet retired midway through the third set. Here I will point out some of the highlights of the tournament so far and make some updated predictions about what's to come considering how the players have looked so far. Djokovic, who had a scratchy five-setter against Diego Schwartzman is looking for an eighth straight Last-Eight appearance, and would put him in second place in the Open Era list of consecutive quarter-final appearances at Roland Garros.

Curry, Durant look to build a Warriors dynasty
Unlike last season, there will be no jokes about blowing a 3-1 lead; the Warriors took care of business in championship fashion. Warriors coach Steve Kerr sees Durant as that missing piece to turning a formidable club into a historic juggernaut.

Meanwhile, No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki returned to the quarter-finals for the first time since 2010, eliminating 2009 champion Svetlana Kuznetsova, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.

Djokovic now meets No. 6 Dominic Thiem, a 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 victor over Horacio Zeballos.

Nishikori, 27, needed nearly four hours to win 7-5, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 0-6, 6-4 in a third-round match finished on Sunday after the previous days rain delay.

She will next face the victor of the match between Veronica Cepede Royg and Mariana Duque-Marina.

Seven-time major champion Venus Williams is bidding for a quarterfinal spot against No. 30 Timea Bacsinszky.

But Carreno Busta's victory over Raonic was just the first in 17 attempts against a top-10 player.

"I still can't believe that I'm sitting here".

Fifth seed Elina Svitolina downed Magda Linette of Poland 6-4, 7-5.
