Nacho Monreal confident Arsenal team-mate Hector Bellerin will snub Barcelona return

The 22-year-old has been consistently linked with a move back to boyhood club Barcelona, while Manchester City have also reportedly shown an interest in the Spain full-back.

"Both Sergi Roberto and Aleix Vidal have had wonderful seasons in that role but if, finally, Bellerin is coming, he would challenge with them to be picked in the starting line-up, but Bellerin and Roberto can play in other roles; it is not easy replacing the best right back ever (Alves)".

Arsenal are already facing doubts over the futures of star names Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, so could do without a fight over Bellerin as well at this stage.

The Premier League heavyweights missed out on a top-four finish last season and they won't be playing Champions League football.

It seems clear that Barca are keen to bring Bellerin back but he will not come cheap and convincing the player and Arsenal, looks a tough task at present.

And Monreal is confident the north London club can keep hold of his Spanish compatriot this summer.

'He's an Arsenal player and nearly certainly he will continue here, ' the 31-year-old told Mundo Deportivo.

"I have spoken to him (Bellerin) and from one side he wants to join Barca, but from the other he feels very attached to Arsenal".

Bellerin signed a new contract with the club last November, but saw his relationship with Arsenal fans fluctuate last season.
