Mayweather to fight McGregor in August

Given McGregor's non-existent boxing experience and Mayweather's reputation as one of the finest fighters in history, many observers are already predicting a mis-match.

The highly anticipated fight between the retired undefeated boxing champion Mayweather and current UFC MMA champion McGregor will take place August 26 in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Mayweather hasn't fought since 2015, which makes things a little more interesting, and possibly closer, betting-wise for the fight.

Adding to McGregor's challenge, the fighters will be using 10-ounce boxing gloves instead of the smaller UFC gloves and he will not be allowed to use the leg kicks or takedowns that are used in mixed martial arts.

"The Mayweather Tour has been postponed because Mayweather has signed the contract for the McGregor Fight and serious training has started", said a statement from the organisers in Accra.

There has been a continuous to and fro between the pair for months, with many speculating that the fight will never go ahead. A victory for Conor is something that can definitely happen, and I think he will shock the world.

Trump partially denies Comey's testimony, mum on existence of recordings
Trump broke his silence on Twitter following explosive testimony by Comey , declaring " total and complete vindication ". Richman confirmed Thursday that he was the friend Comey testified who had discussed the memos with the press.

But just as news of the request was spreading, the executive director of the commission said Mayweather Promotions had verbally retracted the date request. "When two men step into the ring or octagon or whatever it is, anything is possible", White said.

The 28-year-old McGregor has been pushing for the fight for some time and it came together this week, with Nevada boxing officials approving the date on Wednesday. The boxer managed to maintain a spotless 49 wins and zero losses record as he defeated Andre Berto prior to his retirement.

The two fighters have gone back and forth for almost a year regarding a potential showdown with both men previously stating they each wanted US$100 million for the fight.

The pay-per-view revenue for the event would likely gross tens of millions of dollars.

Another issue is the scheduled Gennady Golovkin vs Saul "Canelo" Alvarez fight, which took Mayweather's ideal date of 16 September, with promoter Oscar De La Hoya not wanting any direct competition.
