Huge GOP Turnout Doomed Democrat in Georgia

REPUBLICAN Karen Handel won a closely watched special congressional election Tuesday, salvaging a seat in the traditionally conservative Georgia where Democrats had hoped to strike a blow against Donald Trump's presidency.

The President said Democrats were not willing to work with Republicans on the pending health care legislation at his Wednesday night rally, saying that even if the GOP came up with the "greatest health care plan in the history of the world" they would not get a single vote from Democrats.

High-profile endorsements for the candidates were also abundant: President Donald Trump voiced his support for Handel.

After one of the most contentious and the most expensive Congressional races in USA history, Handel easily defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff 53 percent to 47 percent Tuesday night.

Democrats saw the special election in Georgia's 6th Congressional District as an opportunity to flip a long-held Republican congressional seat. Republican Ralph Norman won the seat formerly held by Mick Mulvaney, the current director of the Office of Management and Budget.

In 2018, Democrats would need to capture 24 seats now occupied by Republicans in order to recapture the House majority.

In that report it was also mentioned that the terrorists had used highly unusual pink ceramic knives in their stabbing attack . Suspects who are arrested under terrorism laws can be held for up to 14 days before they must be charged or released.

Handel's tough race, combined with closer-than-usual GOP House victories in Kansas, Montana and SC, suggests Trump will dominate the coming election cycle, forcing Republicans to make peace with him, for better or worse.

Ironically, Democrat Jon Ossoff spent much of his campaign complaining about money in politics, stating on an NPR broadcast that "we need campaign finance reform", according to the Washington Examiner.

Judging by Karen Handel's upset victory in the Georgia race, Democrats may need to change their strategy if they want 2018 to turn out differently. The district has been a Democratic graveyard since the Carter administration.

Krueger said Georgia could taper GOP anxiety on the American Health Care Act, the Obamacare repeal-and-replace effort now making its way through the Senate. Though many of Ossoff's donors came from outside of Georgia - in liberal states like California and New York - Handel had the edge in support from national political action committees, or PACs. "They vote based on ideas that the candidate has, and we have to speak more to the everyday working class people who look to us for leadership". Races in Kansas and Montana showed closer than usual margin's for Democrats but ended up staying Republican. "The strong headwinds facing Republicans, incredible grassroots enthusiasm behind Democrats, and a damaged and exposed House Republican Caucus all clarify that we have the momentum heading into 2018". "And we better focus", Ryan said.

"It ain't a coincidence that they lost all these races", Cuomo said.
