Giants receiver Roger Lewis Jr. arrested, impaired driving

TMZ reports that Lewis was taken into custody after he was pulled over in Reynoldsburg, Ohio for speeding and tinted windows. TMZ reported that during the stop police say they smelled marijuana and that Lewis appeared intoxicated.

Lewis, who attended high school in the nearby town of Pickering, also reportedly refused officers' request to take a breathalyzer test. He was released to a sober friend on his own recognizance.

Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said the team was aware of the arrest in OH, but it had no immediate comment.

Police also found an unidentifiable liquid in Lewis' vehicle that was sent off to be tested. He made the Giants as a free agent out of Bowling Green, catching seven catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns last season.

Big Blue signed the receiver a year ago as an undrafted free agent. Messages left with Lewis' agent and the National Football League have not yet been returned.

The Giants had organized team activities on Friday and Lewis returned home for the weekend. A jury acquitted him on one count but deadlocked on the other. He later pled guilty to a lesser misdemeanor charge and was sentenced to three years probation.
